ðū Back to the Hills – A Poodle Perspective
By Teddy & Buddy
Well… we’re back. And guess what? It wasn’t a total disaster this time. ð
After the very dramatic Berwyn trip (which we are still processing, thank you very much), Dad said we were going for a mini adventure. Teddy wasn’t so sure, "I had my doubts!" Something about “wind,” “fog,” and “not liking getting soggy.” Fair enough.
But this time was different. Familiar. We recognised the trail almost straight away, the place where we did our very first wild camp. It was cooler up there too, which was actually kind of nice with all this recent heat. And although the wind was back, it didn’t feel nearly as scary as last time.
Dad took his time finding us a good spot. There was lots of sniffing around (from all of us), and eventually he picked a quieter patch, slightly sheltered, where our ears didn’t flap like flags. â
Now let us talk about the important stuff:
ð§ The Tent
We got a brand new one, much less flappy, very cosy. There was enough space to stretch out properly and plenty of tent to nestle into. We approve.
ðïļ The Sleeping Mat
Big fan. It felt like snoozing on a marshmallow after a long walk. Dad especially liked the extra bounce, said it helped his hips.
ðĶī The Chew
This deserves its own paragraph. After everything was set up and we’d done our patrol of the pitch, Dad gave us both a chew. Inside the tent. On the mat. Snug, secure, and chewing away while the wind danced around outside. Absolute bliss.
We all slept pretty well considering the weather. The wind picked up now and then, but nothing to worry about. No spooky flaps. No sliding mats. No unexpected detours down the wrong side of a mountain. Just a calm night in the hills with our favourite human.
Teddy says he’s still cautiously optimistic about the next one, but this trip definitely helped. Small steps. One paw at a time.
Thanks for following our fluffy adventures. Dad’s got more plans, and we’ve got more naps. Keep checking the blog for updates and new spots we explore. We might even share our packing tips next time…
Until then, stay wild. Stay warm. Stay well-fed.
