About me.
Hi, I’m Clive, an outdoors lover, teacher, late-bloomer camper, and proud dog dad to Teddy and Buddy.
For years, I dreamed about escaping into the hills, pitching a tent, and waking up to the sound of nothing but the wind and birdsong. I finally stopped dreaming and did it! and now I’m hooked.
I’m not an expert. I don’t move fast or pack light (yet), but I love the simplicity, the stillness, and the sense of freedom that wild camping brings. I started this blog to capture the memories, the lessons, and the joy that comes with stepping outside my comfort zone, one trip at a time.
If you’re curious about wild camping, hiking with dogs, or just slowing life down a little, you’re in the right place.
Let’s wander.

Meet the Dogs Behind the Adventures
Two tiny poodles. Big hearts. Even bigger personalities.
If you’ve read anything on this blog, you’ll know I don’t go far without my two companions: Teddy and Buddy, my trail buddies, snuggle partners, and loyal little adventurers.
🐾 Teddy – The Thoughtful Guardian
Teddy is my black toy poodle, and the wise one of the pair. He’s observant, calm, and always seems to know exactly what’s going on. He doesn’t charge ahead, he assesses, watches, and makes considered choices. He’s a quiet shadow on the trail, never far from my side, always checking in with those deep, expressive eyes that seem to say, “I’ve got you.”
At camp, he’s the one who’ll sit just outside the tent, nose in the wind, listening to every rustle of the trees like it’s his personal duty to keep us safe. He’s not one for drama, but if there’s something that needs barking at, he’ll let it know who’s boss.
Teddy’s favourite things:
-
A warm lap after a long walk
-
Sticking close to "his person"
-
Watching Buddy’s chaos from a safe distance
🐾 Buddy – The Confident Explorer
Buddy is my apricot toy poodle and the spark in our pack. He’s curious, bold, and brimming with personality. Where Teddy hangs back, Buddy charges forward; tail up, eyes bright, nose glued to the ground. He’s the first to find a new trail, the first to roll in something questionable, and the first to demand a snack break.
Buddy brings energy to every hike, and makes strangers smile everywhere we go. He’s sociable, affectionate, and just the right amount of cheeky. At camp, he’s usually found curled up inside the sleeping bag before I’ve even unrolled it.
Buddy’s favourite things:
-
Sniffing everything, twice
-
Leading the way, even if he doesn’t know where we’re going
-
Stealing hearts (and the last bite of my sandwich)
🐾 Together on the Trail
They balance each other beautifully. Teddy brings the steadiness, Buddy brings the spark, and I bring the snacks. They’ve handled hills, cold nights, long days, and muddy trails like absolute champs.
Camping with dogs isn’t always easy, but with these two, it’s always worth it. Every trip is richer with them by my side. They remind me to notice the small things, to stay present, and to always make time for a nap in the sunshine.
They’re more than pets. They’re part of the story. They’re the heartbeat of this blog.
Meet the Caravan: Our Adventure Base
This is our little home on wheels—our caravan, our base camp, and our cosy retreat after long days on the trail.
She might not be fancy, but she’s full of heart (and dog hair). From muddy boots to morning brews, this space holds all the little in-between moments of adventure, the drying socks, the hot dinners after a cold walk, the snoring dogs curled up on the seat.
When we’re not sleeping under the stars in a tent, this is where we plan, rest, reset, and get ready to explore somewhere new. It’s the perfect halfway point between comfort and wildness, still out in nature, but with a kettle and a heater when we need it most.
The caravan gives us the freedom to roam, the shelter to recharge, and the headspace to slow down. It’s not just transport or accommodation it’s part of the journey.
Where the road ends, the walks begin. And this is where we always come back to.
Our caravan is set up on a peaceful seasonal site in Shropshire, surrounded by rolling hills and quiet countryside. It’s the perfect base for weekend getaways and spontaneous hikes, always ready and waiting for the next adventure.
